Trust & Safety
Thinking about joining? Here are honest, straight answers to the questions people ask before trusting a debt-related product. If something here isn't answered, email support@detta.us.
Is Detta legit?
Yes, Detta is a real product operated by Detta Systems, Inc., currently in a pre-launch waitlist phase. Detta is self-help software: it gives you tools, templates, and guidance to resolve your own unsecured debts. We are transparent about what Detta is and is not (keep reading), and we do not take custody of your money.
Who builds and reviews Detta?
Detta is built by a team that includes practicing consumer-protection attorneys who work with the federal laws that govern debt collection, credit reporting, and creditor phone calls (the FDCPA, FCRA, and TCPA). Every calculator, script, and explanation on Detta is reviewed by a consumer-protection attorney for accuracy. Detta is still self-help software, not a law firm, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Still, the people building it know this area of law.
Is Detta a scam?
No. Detta does not promise to erase or settle your debt for you, does not ask for your full Social Security number or bank login, and never holds your money in escrow. Those are the patterns to watch for with debt scams, and Detta is built to avoid them. You pay your creditors directly; Detta simply helps you do the work.
Does Detta hold or manage my money?
No. There is no escrow and no middleman account. You keep control of your own funds and pay creditors directly. Detta provides the planner, templates, and tracking, not a place to deposit money.
Is Detta a debt-settlement or credit-counseling company?
No. Detta is self-help software. It is not a debt-settlement company, a debt-relief or debt-adjustment service, or a credit-counseling agency, and it is not a law firm. Detta does not negotiate with creditors on your behalf. It equips you to do it yourself.
How is Detta different from a settlement company?
Debt-settlement companies negotiate on your behalf and typically charge 15-25% of your enrolled debt (figures reported by a consumer source, Debt.org), often requiring you to stop paying and deposit money into an account they control. With Detta there is no escrow and no middleman fee, and you decide when and how to pay. The tradeoff is that you do the work yourself, and Detta gives you the tools to do it well.
Is Detta available everywhere in the U.S.?
Detta is being built for consumers in the United States. Some features may be limited or unavailable in certain states depending on local rules, and availability may change over time. We'll confirm what's available to you when your waitlist access opens.
How does Detta make money?
Detta plans to make money from software subscriptions (a free tier plus paid monthly and annual plans) and optional one-time "solve" actions (such as generating a specific letter). It does not take a percentage of your debt or your savings. Final plans and pricing will be confirmed at launch.
Is my information safe?
We collect only what you submit to join the waitlist (your email, and optionally your first name and a general debt category). We do not collect your full Social Security number or bank credentials. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and your rights.
